The cove, the reeds, the meadows, the sailboat, the sky, the places and spaces we go for renewal and happiness, within and without – this is Photographer and Director Toby Mitchell’s dominion. He loves the world and deeply understands the varied wonders of a beautiful and pleasurable life.
Toby’s singular way of seeing embraces a deep emotional curiosity, one expressed through his subtly graphic cinematic images and short films. The transcendent stories he tells are a call to action, inviting the audience to stop and consider what they, too, long to experience.
Toby’s work encompasses a contemporary interpretation of a romantic past and a future that is already taking place. From private moments spent in a public world, to lighting design that implies our collective search for the light within and without, Toby has a strong, authentic connection to the times we live in. He brings these insights to every project he creates, no matter what the subject may be.
For many years, Toby longed to become a pilot, revelling in the sense of being untethered and free.
His impressionistic, dreamy personal work, beautifully communicates his belief that there's something bigger than us in each lifetime, and highlights the need for emotional connection and community.
Toby’s open-hearted joy is infectious, inviting satisfying, award-winning creative collaborations with an extensive group of influential global, multi-cultural clients and luxury brands in the lifestyle, interiors and hospitality sectors.
He lives in England by the water with his wife, Sophia, a musician, and Barney, their Golden Retriever.
